A former midfielder for Manchester United, David Beckham expects Cristiano Ronaldo to remain with the club for at least another year following another poor season.
United cannot finish higher than sixth due to their 4-0 loss at Brighton & Hove Albion over the weekend.
After the current season, the Old Trafford club has recruited Ajax Amsterdam manager Erik ten Hag to replace interim manager Ralf Rangnick. The Dutchman is likely to overhaul the team during the offseason.
Beckham, who also put on United’s number seven jersey, thinks the 37-year-old forward will remain. Ronaldo has scored 24 goals in all opposition this season.
We all know how important United is to him. Still doing what he does the finest, Beckham told Sky Sports during the Miami Grand Prix.
“To be accomplishing what he’s doing at his age is quite remarkable, so I hope it continues for another year.”
Beckham, who won six Premier League titles with Manchester United, remarked that fans had supported the team through difficult times, with United’s last league triumph coming in the 2012-2013 season.
“The finish of the season has been difficult. “However, it is the season’s conclusion, and I’m sure many fans are relieved since it’s been a difficult one, full of ups and downs,” he remarked.
“Both the players and the manager have done what they do best. A few months ago, I visited the stadium, and every seat occupies. Indicating that the fans continue to believe in, support, and show up for the team.
“This is what United supporters do. Not many clubs have endured what they have over the past few years and still filled their stadium. There will be alterations.”
